What is a Bitcoin?
What is all this talk of bitcoins? (A new digital currency) Can I make money from bitcoins? (Yes, and you could lose) Can I make money by just running my home computer? (Yes!). Will bitcoins revolutionize the world and free the people from fiat currencies? (It’s possible). Will bitcoins destroy the world? (Possibly) What is a bitcoin? Bitcoins are, according to bitcoin.org, “a peer-to-peer currency. Peer-to-peer means that no central authority issues new money or tracks transactions. These tasks are managed collectively by the network” (i.e. YOU).
But what does this mean for you? They caught my attention after watching the cost of BTC (bitcoins) rise from less than $.01 USD in July of 2010 to near $30 in July of 2011. That meant that $100 invested in bitcoins quickly became near $300,000 in less than a year. This could repeat, or they could become worthless, instantly.
In June of 2011, I watched in glee as bitcoins went from $15 to over $30 to $.01 back to $18 in a matter of days. Any former traders bored with the current algorithm robot trading world will find a great new home in the trading of bitcoins. Of course such wild swings are not for those with weak stomachs.
A bitcoin is abbreviated as BTC. This eBook is meant to provide a quick background and provide the reader with the opportunity to be involved with, and possibly profit from, BTC.
